First arrest made by Punjab Police in Sidhu Moose Wala's murder

The police of the border state have formally arrested Manpreet Singh who was picked up from Uttrakhand last evening along with five others.

The Punjab Police has made the first arrest in singer-politician Sidhu Moose Wala’s murder. The police of the border state have formally arrested Manpreet Singh who was picked up from Uttrakhand last evening along with five others.

Singh was produced before the court and has been sent to five days in police custody.

The Punjab Police managed to locate and catch the six from Dehradun with the help of the Uttarakhand Police and the Special Task Force (STF). One of them, the police suspected, was a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which is said to be involved in Moose Wala’s gruesome murder.

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang came under the police’s radar after Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar claimed responsibility for the murder. Brar, a close associate of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, claimed he killed the singer to avenge the death of one Vicky Middukhera.

On Sunday, the Punjab top cop, VK Bhawra, during a press conference said that the attack on Sidhu Moose Wala seemed to be an inter-gang rivalry. Moose Wala's manager’s name was dragged into the murder case of Akali leader Vicky Middukhera last year, Mansa Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Toora said.

The singer was shot dead on Sunday, a day after the state government downgraded his security cover. He was cremated today at Mansa on a part of agricultural land belonging to the family.
