Firozabad: Govt official denies hiding death figures as toll due to viral fever, dengue crosses 50

On Saturday, Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary, Medical Education Department, visited Firozabad district in Uttar Pradesh to take stock of the situation as death toll due to viral illness crossed 50.

Reportedly, on August 30, the death toll due to the viral illness was 39, according to official data. On September 2, the death toll rose to 50. However, the number of deaths was reported as 50 on September 4 as well, despite several children reportedly dying due to the illness in the past 36 hours.
