A fatal bus accident in Markapuram District leaves several feared dead, prompting widespread shock and calls for improved road safety measures.
A tragic road accident near Rayavaram in Markapuram district has sent shockwaves across Andhra Pradesh, with several passengers feared dead after a private travel bus collided with a tipper and caught fire. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep anguish over the incident, particularly over reports that multiple passengers were burnt alive in the blaze.
According to the officials, the bus, belonging to Harikrishna Travels, was en route from Nirmal in Telangana to Nellore when the accident occurred. Preliminary reports indicate that at least 20 injured passengers were immediately shifted to nearby hospitals, where they are undergoing treatment. Authorities fear the death toll may rise.

The Chief Minister reviewed the situation with senior officials and sought details on the medical assistance being provided to the injured. He directed authorities to ensure the best possible treatment and ordered a comprehensive inquiry into the causes of the accident.
Former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy also expressed shock and grief over the tragedy. Conveying his condolences to the bereaved families, he urged the government to provide immediate financial assistance and ensure advanced medical care for the injured. He further demanded a thorough investigation and strict action against those responsible, stressing the need for stronger road safety measures.
Several ministers, including Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, conveyed their condolences and instructed officials to expedite rescue and relief operations. They emphasized strict enforcement of road safety norms to prevent such tragedies.
