Extortion case: CBI records statement of Mumbai hotel owner

A CBI team reached Mumbai on Friday and started recording the statement of Mumbai hotel owner Mahesh Shetty in connection to the allegations levelled by former Mumbai Police commissioner Param Bir Singh against ex-Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday examined a hotel-cum-bar owner from north-western suburbs of Mumbai in connection to the allegations levelled against former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh by ex-Mumbai Police commissioner Param Bir Singh. The hotel owner, Mahesh Shetty, was close to suspended assistant inspector Sachin Vaze and his mentor. Sources said Shetty had been handling the issues related to hotels from the north-western suburbs of Mumbai and helped them with their police-related problems.
