Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will inaugurate the two new metro lines on April 2. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) chief Srinivas said that they are expecting a footfall of 3.5 lakh passengers daily on new metro corridors.
Eight years after the first metro corridor between Versova and Ghatkopar in Mumbai was commissioned, two more metro lines will become operational on April 2. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will partially open two Metro corridors to decongest the heavy traffic along the Western Express Highway.
MMRDA Commissioner SVA Srinivas on Thursday made the official announcement about the partial opening of Metro Lines 2 A and 7. Srinivas said that they are expecting a footfall of 3.5 lakh passengers daily in new metro corridors.
The metro lines will be officially inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on April 2, coinciding with the auspicious festival Gudi Padwa.
“Phase 1 of line 2 A and 7 will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray in the day of Gudi Padwa. We have received all the clearances as well.” said MMRDA.
Mumbai is now ready to take a giant leap in public transport. Metro Line 2A & 7 operations are being commenced by MMRDA from 2nd April 2022. #MumbaiMetro2022 #HaPadwaGudiPadwa @CMOMaharashtra @mieknathshinde @MoHUA_India @MahaDGIPR @MumbaiMetro3 @MMMOCL_Official pic.twitter.com/iAwC88Olys
