Exclusive: Prashant Tamang's death delays Salman Khan's Maatrubhumi release

Salman Khan's film Maatrubhumi faces delay due to the untimely death of actor-singer Prashant Tamang, who played the main antagonist and had key scenes pending.
Salman Khan's Battle of Galwan, now titled Maatrubhumi, was originally slated for an early April release. However, owing to certain changes in the script, the film has now been pushed. India Today has exclusively learned that one of the major reasons behind the delay is the untimely death of actor-singer Prashant Tamang.
A source close to the film shared that the Indian Idol 3 winner was signed to play the main antagonist and had already shot several key scenes. However, a few crucial portions were still pending when he died in January this year.
"The team had a couple of planned schedules where Prashant had to shoot some really key scenes. With him gone, the team is absolutely in crisis," the source shared.
While the makers initially considered reshooting Prashant's scenes, it does not seem feasible at this point. "Close-ups could still be managed, but he was also part of extensive action sequences. It would not only be financially unviable but also a logistical nightmare," the source said.
