A video surfaced on social media allegedly showing electronic voting machines (EVMs) in what was claimed to be the car of a BJP candidate in Assam. Following the incident, the Election Commission has sought a detailed report on the incident from Karimganj District Election Officer.
A few hours after the second phase of polling ended in Assam on Thursday, a video purportedly showing electronic voting machines (EVMs) being transported in the private vehicle of a sitting BJP MLA surfaced on social media. Soon after the video was uploaded on Twitter by an Assam-based journalist and was widely shared on social media, the Opposition raised questions over the management of EVMs in poll-bound states. Congress’s Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday shared the viral video and asked the Election Commission to act decisively. A serious re-evaluation of the use of EVMs needs to be carried out by all national parties, Priyanka Gandhi said.More Related News
