Droupadi Murmu took oath as the President of India on Monday. While talking about her life journey she said even getting a primary education felt like a dream for her.

Droupadi Murmu was sworn in as the 15th President of India on Monday. After taking oath as the president, Murmu said she started her life journey from a small tribal village in Odisha, adding that it felt like a dream to even get a primary education.

Murmu further said that despite the obstacles in her life, her resolve remained strong and she became the first woman in her village to go to college.

At the age of 62, Droupadi Murmu made history by becoming the first tribal leader and second woman to be elected to the highest constitutional post of the country. She is also the first president to be born after independence and also the youngest to occupy the top post.

In her first address as the President of India, Droupadi Murmu said her election to the top constitutional post proves that in India, the poor can not only dream but also fulfil those aspirations.
