Edappadi Palaniswami pledges ₹25,000 subsidy for two-wheelers for women if AIADMK returns to power in Tamil Nadu.
When the AIADMK returns to power in Tamil Nadu, a subsidy of ₹25,000 will be given to five lakh women each for buying two-wheelers, said former Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami after celebrating International Women’s Day on Sunday in Salem with the AIADMK women wing functionaries by cutting a cake.
Former Chief Ministers M.G. Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa implemented several schemes for women. The AIADMK had listed through a post on X on Sunday the schemes it brought out for women. When the AIADMK comes to power, women family heads will receive ₹2,000 every month. Former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa implemented the Amma two-wheeler scheme for women. After DMK came to power, it was stopped, Mr. Palaniswami added.
Responding to a question on Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay’s announcements for women, Mr. Palaniswami said that Mr. Vijay made announcements for the election just as every political party that will release its election manifesto.
When asked whether Mr. Vijay’s announcements were similar to the promises made by the AIADMK, Mr. Palaniswami said the question should be asked to him (Mr. Vijay). “Every party releases their election promises. I announced that Magalir Urimai Thogai will be increased to ₹2,000 from ₹1,000. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin also announced the same. So this question should be asked to Mr. Stalin too,” he added.
