ED files fresh case of land grabbing against Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik

According to sources, the ED has come across a plot of land that was forcibly occupied by people having links with Nawab Malik.
Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik, arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case with alleged links to fugitive terrorist Dawood Ibrahim, is now being probed in another case of forcibly occupying land in Mumbai, sources have told India Today.
The ED has come across a plot of land that was forcibly occupied by people connected with Nawab Malik, the sources said. The land was later developed for monetary benefit, they added.

Interestingly, the actual owner and complainant in the case was not compensated for his land, the sources have alleged.
The ED has also recorded a few statements in this new case.
The complainant has alleged that his land was grabbed by powerful people on the instructions of Nawab Malik and later developed for commercial use.
On February 23, Nawab Malik was arrested by the ED under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The ED has alleged that Malik bought a plot of land in Mumbai’s suburban Kurla illegally from people connected to the D-Gang at a price much lower than the market price.
