
EC transfers 2 police officers ahead of Asansol bypolls in West Bengal

EC ordered the transfer of two police officers on Friday, four days ahead of the bypolls for Asansol's Lok Sabha seat.
The Election Commission, on Friday, ordered the transfer of two police officers of Asansol Durgapur Police commissionerate, four days ahead of the bypolls for Asansol's Lok Sabha seat.
The inspector in-charge of Asansol South police station, Abhijit Chatterjee and Sanjiv De of Jamuria Police station have been transferred out.
Three names have been sought by the EC from the state to replace the officers.
Asansol goes to polls for the Asansol Lok Sabha seat after former MP, Babul Supriyo left the seat after leaving the BJP. Agnimitra Paul, BJP MLA of Asansol South has been rendered the task of taking on Shatrughan Sinha, who is fighting on a TMC ticket.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
