
Drunk men run car over transgender's legs in Ranchi, try to crush cop while escaping

Two drunk men went on a violent rampage in Ranchi, running over a transgender person, brutally assaulting a youth, and attacking police during a 10-km chase.
Two drunk men created havoc on the streets of Ranchi on Monday night by running their vehicle over a transgender person, brutally assaulting a youth, and later attacking cops during a high-speed chase, police said.
According to police, the incident began at a bar near, where the accused, identified as Ishtiyaq and Gulfam, allegedly consumed alcohol with transgender persons. During the gathering, an argument broke out between them.
After leaving the bar, the dispute escalated on the road. Police said the accused ran their vehicle over a transgender person, crushing both legs and causing fractures. The injured transgender person was rushed to hospital, where treatment is ongoing.
Soon after, a youth, Bunty Kumar, tried to intervene and stop the assault, but the accused caught him near the State Bank area at Kachahari Chowk and brutally beat him, repeatedly smashing his head against the road divider. When Bunty’s friends attempted to approach, the accused allegedly forced him into their vehicle and fled.
Bunty’s friends alerted police by calling cops, after which multiple police teams began searching for the suspects. When police located the black Bolero vehicle, the accused tried to escape, allegedly attempting to run over police personnel and ramming a police vehicle. During this, the Kotwali DSP sustained minor injuries, while police vehicles suffered heavy damage.
The chase continued for nearly 10 kilometres, with the accused breaking barricades and ignoring repeated warnings to stop. As the situation worsened, police opened fire to bring the vehicle to a halt.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
