Droupadi Murmu’s ancestral village celebrates with laddoos ahead of Prez poll results

In Odisha’s Uperbeda, presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu's ancestral village, people plan to celebrate her electoral victory by distributing 20,000 laddoos.
Revelry began early in NDA candidate Droupadi Murmu’s ancestral village as the nation awaits the results of the presidential election.
In Odisha’s Uperbeda, some 280 kilometres from the capital Bhubaneswar, people were in celebration mode even before the counting of votes began. Murmu was born and grew up in this remote tribal village, now its people are proud and overjoyed for “Odisha’s daughter”.
Villagers are planning to make merry after Droupadi Murmu's electoral victory by distributing laddoos in the entire village. Around 20,000 laddoos have been prepared for the occasion.

India Today spoke to a gentleman who was making laddoos in the village. He was confident of Murmu’s win and pleased that the country would be getting its first Adivasi President.
“I am very happy today, that’s why I am preparing laddoos on the victory of Droupadi Murmu, the lady who will become the President. In the village, 20,000 laddoos are being prepared on a large scale. After her victory, all these laddoos will be distributed in the whole village.”
Another person said, “Droupadi Murmu, the daughter of a tribal family from Odisha, will become the President of the country [today]. It is a matter of pride not only for us but for the entire state.”
