Leap Days and corresponding leap years only come around every so often. Is 2026 the year?
With the end of February right around the corner, you might be wondering if the shortest month of the calendar year will be extended by a day, one leap day, if you will.
Leap days and corresponding leap years, which "helps keep us in sync with the seasons," only comes around every so often, National Geographic Kids reports.
Since the calendar oddity typically happen every four years (although there are some exceptions), the next leap is skipping 2026 altogether and will happen in 2028. Our last Leap Days were in 2024 and 2020.
People, especially "Leaplings," have celebrated the "bonus" day in different ways over the years, with businesses offering special deals in commemoration and others finally celebrating their Feb. 29 birthday.
