The Independence Police Department recovered five Barbie dolls that contained fentanyl from discount store Cargo Largo on March 21.
A Missouri police department confiscated five Barbie dolls from a discount store that contained fentanyl just outside of Kansas City.
The Independence Police Department is actively investigating the sale of five Barbie dolls that included fentanyl taped inside the toys' packaging from discount store Cargo Largo in Independence, Missouri, the Independence Police Department shared in a Facebook post on March 21.
The Independence Police Department was contacted by Cargo Largo Security the morning of March 21 regarding a "suspicious powder substance" located in the packaging of a Barbie doll. The police department determined five compromised dolls were sold and all were located within the same day, according to the department's post.
As of March 23, the police department could not comment on the amount of fentanyl recovered, Independence Police Officer Bryan Conley told USA TODAY via email.
