Discuss issue of corruption in 15 days or we'll reveal names of ministers: Karnataka contractors warn CM

The Karnataka State Contractors’ association said that if CM Bommai did not meet them within 15 days to discuss the issue of corruption, they would reveal the names of MLAs and ministers involved. This comes after Santosh Patil, a contractor from Udupi, killed himself alleging that minister KS Eshwarappa was corrupt and responsible for his death.

The Karnataka State Contractors’ Association has given a warning to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. The association's president, D Kempanna, said, “We've given an ultimatum to CM that if within 15 days we're not called to discuss the matter to reduce corruption, we'll announce the names of involved MLAs & ministers.”

The State Contractors’ Association has further alleged that corruption is present in many departments. “Health is the most corrupt department. Other departments include PWD, Irrigation, Panchayat Raj, BBMP,” said the Contractors’ Association president D Kempanna.

The contractors’ association has also decided to stop work for a month, and the date when this will begin is yet to be decided, said State Contractors' Association president, D Kempanna.

A big rally is scheduled to be held on May 25 in Bengaluru.

Contractor Santosh Patil from Udupi was found hanging in a hotel room on Monday night. Before killing himself, the deceased had recorded a selfie-video in which he alleged that he was taking the extreme step due to repeated harassment by the Minister of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj of Karnataka, KS Eshwarappa and his aides.

Santosh had reportedly agreed to carry out work worth Rs 4 crores and the government had paid back nothing. He alleged that KS EShwarappa demanded a 40% commission before providing Santosh with payments and the work orders.

“Eshwarappa is responsible for my death. He has to be punished. I've suppressed all my desires and [am] doing this. I request the PM, CM and Yediyurappa to take care of my family,” Patil reportedly wrote in the WhatsApp message.
