Delta variant spreading rapidly, behind most new infections in major countries

Delta variant is responsible for most new Covid-19 infections in India, United States, United Kingdom, Russia, South Africa and numerous other countries.

The highly infectious Delta variant of coronavirus, first detected in India in February this year, has now spread to almost 100 countries, the latest World Health Organization (WHO) data reveals. Considered to be two-and-a-half times more transmissible than the original virus, the Delta variant is responsible for most new infections in India, United States, United Kingdom, Russia, South Africa and numerous other countries.
