Delhi: Two held for stealing jewellery worth lakhs from a house in Rohini

Police arrested two men, including a local criminal, following a big jewellery theft in the Rohini area of Delhi. Jewellery worth lakhs of rupees was reported to be stolen after two persons broke into a house in broad daylight.
The Delhi Police, on May 15, arrested two men for stealing jewellery worth lakhs from a house in Delhi’s Rohini area. The incident took place on May 14 when the police received a complaint of a theft of gold and silver jewellery worth lakhs of rupees in Rohini Sector 2.
According to the complaint, two persons had stolen gold and silver jewellery from the victim’s house in broad daylight by breaking open the lock. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Addl. DCP), Ravikant Kumar, constituted a team under the supervision of Station House Officer (SHO) Arjun Kumar of Rohini South police station, the crack team of the police station headed by Inspector Virendra Sindhu, Head Constable Pradeep Badesara, Ravikant, constables Baljeet and Ashish, among others to investigate the case.
The team reviewed the footage from about 280 CCTV cameras from which they could see two boys entering the house. When they matched their faces with the police database, one of them turned out to be a local criminal.

The accused, Pradeep, was tracked down to Vijal Lal quarters from where, on seeing the police, he escaped. However, the alert policemen in Budh Vihar were able to arrest him. Pradeep is a resident of Vijay Vihar and has more than a dozen complaints against him in the area.
The police were then able to solve the jewellery case within 24 hours by nabbing the other accused and also recovering all the stolen jewellery.
