Delhi Airport T3 is now 5G-ready, promises 20-times faster connectivity to passengers

Delhi International airport Terminal 3 has become 5G ready ahead of the launch of 5G services in India. The Indian government is launching 5G services on October 1.  

Delhi International Airport has become the first 5G-ready airport in India. The airport authority has announced that Terminal 3 is now ready to host 5G network connectivity for passengers. The 5G network services will be available at the airport once it is rolled out by the telecom service providers like Airtel and Jio. The Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) has released an official statement saying that passengers flying from Delhi Airport Terminal 3 will be able to use the 5G network soon. The authority says that the 5G network will offer 20 times faster data speed over the available Wi-Fi system in the airport. Passengers with 5G connectivity in their smartphones will experience better signal strength, seamless connectivity at the domestic departure pier and international arrival baggage area at Terminal 3, T3 arrivals and multi-level car parking (MLCP), says DIAL. 5G network connectivity will be rolled out at the T3 in stages. If the promise of 5G comes true passengers at the airport would enjoy faster download speeds and zero buffering when streaming. 5G connectivity may also lead to better functioning of airport operations, including passenger processing and baggage management. India is gearing up for the launch of 5G services. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be officially launching the 5G services on October 1, although the general availability is likely to take a few more weeks. "The 5G to be launched by the Prime Minister in select cities will progressively cover the entire country over the next couple of years The cumulative economic impact of 5G on India is expected to reach $450 billion by 2035," reads the official statement by the Ministry of Communications. PM Modi will also inaugurate the sixth edition of the Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) at the same time. The IMC 2022 will be hosted at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from October 1-4 with its theme being "New Digital Universe". The government is promising a quick rollout of 5G services in the country by October 12. IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that the government will ensure that 5G services are offered at affordable prices. Ahead of the 5G launch, Reliance Jio and Airtel have announced plans to roll out 5G services in the country. Reliance will be launching a 5G network around Diwali in a phased manner. The telecom operator is expected to extend 5G connectivity across the country by 2023. Airtel has also confirmed that it would start 5G services by next month. Airtel users will get 5G connectivity in their existing 4G SIM. So, users will not have to change their SIM card to get the 5G service.
