Gautam Gambhir on Sunday tweeted in support of Nupur Sharma and said the silence of the "secular liberals is deafening".
BJP MP and former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir on Sunday tweeted in support of Nupur Sharma whose remark on the Prophet Muhammad has sparked unrest and violence across the country.
He wrote, “Silence of so called ‘secular liberals’ on the sickening display of hatred and death threats throughout the country against a woman who has apologised is surely DEAFENING!”

In a TV debate on the ongoing Gyanvapi row, Nupur Sharma is believed to have said that certain things from Islamic religious books could be mocked by people. She said Muslims are mocking the Hindu faith and calling the 'Shivling' claimed to have been found inside the mosque complex a fountain.
The BJP high command suspended Nupur Sharma on June 5 over her remarks on the Prophet Muhammad.
Meanwhile, Nupur Sharma's remark has sparked a national controversy as protests erupted in several parts of the country. Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Delhi and Assam are on high alert as officials try to maintain law and order.
