A day after tendering his resignation, former Gujarat Congress leader Hardik Patel in a press conference slammed the party and called it the 'biggest casteist party'.
Former Gujarat Congress leader Hardik Patel slammed the state party and called it the 'biggest casteist party', a day after he quit the party.
While addressing a press conference in Ahmedabad, the Patidar leader said Congress is the biggest casteist party and accused the state unit's executive chairman of not assigning him any duties.
He said, "The executive chairman's responsibilities are only on paper. I was not given any responsibility for two years."
Hardik Patel dismissed talks of him joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He told reporters, "Till now, no decision on joining BJP."
He apologised to the Patidar leaders, saying he was warned about Congress. "I apologise to senior Patidar leaders and friends. They had warned me of not joining Congress. Today, I have realised it."
The Patidar leader accused the Congress party of corruption. He said, "In Dahod adivasi Satyagraha Rally of Rahul Gandhi, around 25 thousand people were present but bill for 70 thousand was made. Such is the level of corruption in Congress."
Patel said that when Rahul Gandhi visited Gujarat, then not a single issue of the state was discussed. "When Rahul Gandhi comes here, Congress leaders discuss which chicken sandwich to give and which diet coke to give. Nothing happens except casteist politics."
