Cyberabad police enhance security through intensified foot patrols, fostering community interaction and vigilance during late-night hours.
In an effort to strengthen visible policing and reassure residents, the Cyberabad police intensified foot patrolling across several areas, with officers stepping out of patrol vehicles and interacting directly with people on the streets.
The initiative, described by officials as a move to bring the police closer to the public, involves personnel from patrol units and Blue Colts leaving their vehicles and walking through busy roads, market areas, bus stands, residential colonies and narrow lanes during night hours. The aim is to observe ground-level activity more closely and encourage citizens to remain vigilant.
Police said the patrol teams are speaking directly with residents, shopkeepers and workers who remain active late into the night, advising them to report any suspicious persons or movements immediately to the police by dialling 100 or informing the nearest station.
Officials noted that narrow lanes and residential by-lanes, which are often difficult to monitor from vehicles, can be checked more effectively when officers patrol on foot.
During the patrols, police teams also verify suspicious vehicles, particularly those with incorrect number plates, and keep a watch on individuals loitering late at night without a clear purpose. Officers also collect details of known offenders and discourage anti-social activities such as drinking in secluded areas.
Police officials said foot patrols also enable officers to notice small but significant details, such as poorly secured house locks or people attempting to conceal themselves in dark corners or behind walls, which might otherwise go unnoticed during vehicle patrols.
