
Customs seizes Rolexes, iphone worth crores from Indian flyer in Delhi coming from Dubai

The customs department at New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport arrested an Indian man, who landed from Dubai with valuables amounting to over Rs 28 crore, and booked him in a case of smuggling.

The detailed examination of the baggage and personal search of the passenger led to the recovery of seven highly precious wrist watches, out of which one is extraordinarily exorbitant. Among the seven watches, one of them is from Jacob & Co, one is a Piaget Limelight Stella watch from SwissLuxury and five others are Rolex Oyster Perpetual.
Among other precious items recovered are a gold bracelet studded with diamonds and one I-phone 14 Pro with 256 GB RAM.
Officials from the customs department said that the total evaluation of the seized goods is over Rs 28.17 crore. The valuables have been seized under Section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962.

Chief Commissioner of the Delhi Customs Zone Surjit Bhujabal said, "Alert customs officers at Delhi Airport has made the recovery possible despite dealing with such high passenger traffic. The Indian Customs have always ensured maximum facilitation with minimal disturbance to genuine passengers simultaneously, safeguarding economic frontiers by curbing smuggling."
Commissioner of customs at the airport Zubair Riaz Kamili said, “In terms of commercial/ luxury goods, it is the biggest seizure in value terms at the IGI Airport in one go. In value terms, it is equivalent to seizing around 60kgs of gold in one instance.”

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
