Croatian freediver walks 107 metres underwater in one breath, sets world record

According to the Guinness World Record, Vitomir Maricic's attempt took place on September 17, 2021 in Thallassotherapia Opatija’s swimming pool, a hospital for the rehabilitation of heart, lung and rheumatic diseases.
A Croatian freediver who goes by the name Vitomir Maricic has broken the record for the longest underwater walk in one breath (male), according to the Guinness World Record (GWR). Vitomir walked a total of 107 metres or 351 ft 0.5 inches underwater and broke the previous record of fellow freediver Boris Milosic who walked 96 metres in March 2020.
According to GWR, Vitomir’s attempt took place on September 17, 2021 in Thallassotherapia Opatija’s swimming pool, a hospital for the rehabilitation of heart, lung and rheumatic diseases. Incidentally, he wanted to do this to raise awareness about the research the hospital is doing on freediving. According to him, it will not just help shape the sport and its safety, but also benefit the field of medicine in general.
Vitomir held his breath underwater for a total of 3 minutes and 6 seconds. To ensure that he didn’t float upwards, he carried weights in his arms throughout the duration of his attempt. Also, he completed two laps of the 50-metre pool.

"As a professional freediver I don’t really need to prepare that much for any breath-holding record," said Vitomir. He also claims that he can “easily break” any other Guinness World Record as he just requires the right setting. He also believes that he can easily better this record too.
"I can do much more but this was a live event so I wanted to be careful and precise,” he added.
