
Covid-19: Maharashtra reports 15,140 new cases, active caseload stands at 2,07,350

A total of 91 cases of the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2 were reported by the National Institute of Virology on Monday, taking the tally of Omicron infected patients to 3,221 in the state.
With 15,140 new Covid-19 cases, the active caseload of Maharashtra stood at 2,07,350 on Monday. Pune MC reported 2,094 Covid cases, followed by Nagpur MC with 1,447. A total of 35,453 people were discharged from hospitals on Monday.

Meanwhile, 91 cases of the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2 were reported by the National Institute of Virology on Monday, taking the tally of Omicron infected patients to 3,221 in the state.
Out of these, 1,682 cases have been discharged so far following a negative RT PCR test.
Nagpur reported 18 Omicron cases, followed by Aurangabad, Raigad and Navi Mumbai MC with 11 each. Mumbai and Thane MC reported eight cases each, followed by Sindhudurg and Satara with five each, Amravati, PCMC and Pune MC with four each and Yavatmal and Pune Rural (one each).
Till now, 6,716 samples have been sent for genome sequencing, out of which results of 6,626 patients have come and 90 are awaited.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
