The restrictions that were earlier imposed in Maharashtra's Nagpur between March 15 and 31 by the district administration due to the increase in coronavirus cases will not be extended further, state minister Nitin Raut announced on Wednesday. However, the curbs and protocols issued by the state government will be applicable in the district, he said. Raut, who is Nagpur district guardian minister, on Wednesday held a review meeting with the local officials to take stock of the Covid-19 situation.
As per the Bill, those involved in unlawful conversions on the pretext of marriage will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and shall also be liable for a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Violations in respect of a minor, a person of unsound mind, a woman or a person belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and a fine of Rs 5 lakh.
