Congress-Trinamool vs BJP as Tripura gets new CM ahead of polls next year

The Congress and Trinamool Congress attacked the BJP on Saturday after Tripura elected a new chief minister ahead of elections next year.
After Biplab Kumar Deb tendered his resignation on Saturday, the Congress and Trinamool Congress attacked the BJP for changing the Tripura chief minister so close to the upcoming state Assembly elections.
Both opposition parties saw Deb's resignation as the BJP admitting that his four-year tenure was a failure.
Sudip Roy Burman, a former health minister in Biplab's cabinet who joined the Congress in 2021, hit out at Biplab's government and said that the move would not help the BJP.
"It will backfire. The removal of Biplab demonstrates that the BJP has admitted to rampant looting in the state over the last four years, which was supported by the top leadership," said Sudip Roy Burman, who has protested against Biplab Deb multiple times, even when he was in Biplab's cabinet.
Not far behind was the Trinamool Congress, which had forayed into the state recently.
TMC's state incharge, Rajib Banerjee, a former Bengal minister who joined BJP and later rejoined TMC in the presence of Abhishek Banerjee in Tripura, also slammed the BJP government.
"This doesn't help. Let them change. Biplab's government has failed on all issues. How is this government even running? The only alternative is Mamata Banerjee," said Rajib Banerjee to India Today.
