The Congress MLAs on Tuesday staged a walkout from the Uttarakhand assembly while protesting over the police action against protesters in Ghat block demanding widening of a road. Villagers of the Ghat area in Uttarakhand's Gairsain have been agitating for the last two months in support of their demand for the widening of Nandprayag-Ghat motor road. On Monday, clashes broke out between between police and demonstrators during the protest where the cops used water-canons against the protesters and lathi-charged them. On the second day of its ongoing budget session, Congress MLA and the party's state unit president Pritam Singh raised the issue in the Uttarakhand assembly and protested against the police action on the villagers.More Related News
