Congress delegation met Election Commissioner over 'politically motivated' ED raids on Punjab CM's relatives ahead of the Assembly elections.
Congress on Thursday approached the Election Commission (EC) over the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids on Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi's relative ahead of the upcoming polls. Congress alleged the raids were 'politically motivated'.
Congress leader Randeep Surjewala asked the EC to intervene and direct finance ministry and ED to stop politically motivated raids as they violate the Model Code of Conduct. A Congress delegation comprising Randeep Surjewala, Abhishek Singhvi, Harish Chaudhary, Devender Yadav, Ganesh Godiyal, and others met the CEC virtually to protest against the 'politically motivated' raids.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
