
Clashes break out on Hanuman Jayanti in Andhra's Kurnool, 15 injured; 20 held

Clashes erupted in Andhra's Holagunda of Kurnool between two communities as they resorted to pelting stones on each other. Twenty people have been taken into police custody.
Clashes were reported between two communities erupted in Holagunda of Kurnool city in Andhra Pradesh after two groups pelted stones on each other on Saturday night. At least 15 people are reported to have sustained minor injuries.
It is alleged that while Iftar was being hosted in a mosque at Eerla Katta in Holagunda town, a Hanuman Jayanti procession crossed the area.
The people in the mosque objected to the loud music, which led to clashes. Both sides attacked each other. Several people were injured.

Kurnool SP, Sudheer Reddy said a clash broke out between two communities and stones were pelted from both sides. The stone-pelting took place for almost 10 minutes. The police have taken 20 people into custody based on videos and are being questioned.
He said, "The VHP organised Hanuma Jayanthi celebrations in Holagunda. They used the DJ sets against the advice of the police. When they went near the mosque, police asked them to shut down the DJ sets. But, they stopped in front of the mosque and started raising "Jai Shri Ram" slogans. To this, the people from the Muslim community started shouting "Allah hu Akhbar".

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
