Chennai Air Customs has seized assorted foreign currency notes worth Rs 50.71 lakhs.
Chennai Air Customs on Wednesday, May 25 seized assorted foreign currency worth Rs 50.71 lakhs. The seized currency notes were of various denominations.
Acting upon specific input, the Air Customs officials intercepted five passengers. The accused have been identified as Najirudeen, Raja Mohammed and Jahir Hussain, Vishnushagar and Absar Ali.
During the search, assorted foreign currency notes of various denominations totally valued at Rs 50.71 Lakhs were found concealed in their check-in baggage and footwear.
The same were seized under the Customs Act, 1962. Further investigation is underway.
