Japan footballer Takumi Minamino said that he will take a call on his future with Liverpool after his team’s Champions League match against Real Madrid in the final on Saturday, May 28 in Paris. Back in January 2020, the 27-year-old left RB Salzburg and joined the Anfield outfit and has mostly been used as a squad player by Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool team manager.
Minamino has churned out 10 goals in 24 matches in all matches for Liverpool this season. On his future, the youngster said that he is focusing on the upcoming match for the time being.
"I have Japan matches too (in June) and there will be no time to rest up, but I'll think about my future after the Champions League final. First I'm concentrating on the match," Minamino was quoted as saying by Kyodo News.
The Japanese star has taken part in four Champions League final thus far and is hoping to take his side home against Real Madrid.
"No one from Japan has ever stood on the (Champions League) final's pitch, so I want to do that," he stated.
"When you try to prove yourself in a limited amount of time, scoring goals is the only option. I was absolutely fixated on that this season," Minamino added. Minamino's goal haul this season is his best since moving to England.
As far as Liverpool are concerned, they have already won the Europa League and FA Cup, but they failed to win the Premier League as Manchester City came up trumps.
