
Challenge of tribal population's education taken in mission mode, says tribal affairs minister

The Minister for Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda said that the government has taken up the challenge of education of the tribal population in mission mode.
Interacting with the students of Eklavya Model Residential Schools across Jharkhand, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda said that the government has taken up the challenge of education of the tribal population in mission mode and we are working to catapult them to an international level. The video conference was held on February 22, 2022.
The government has also sanctioned 452 new Eklavya Model Residential Schools to bridge the gap in tribal children’s education.
A significant number of such schools are proposed to be established in remote areas and at block level.
The minister further added that these schools will be providing quality education for the overall development of tribal students.
He went on to say that on Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, November 15, 2021, the Prime Minister lay the foundation stone for 50 EMRSs, 20 of which are in Jharkhand.
The tribal affairs minister stated further that due to the efforts made to improve the quality of education in these schools, several toppers and winners emerged from EMRSs in various fields like academics, sports, cultural activities.
He added that students are also being involved in social and nation-building activities like Poshan Abhiyaan, Swachchta Mission, among others, and that the focus of education should be on moral values and character building.
