Sarvam, India’s homegrown AI startup, has been making waves lately. The company has made major progress in the AI space, including building two Large Language Models (LLMs) from scratch. Now, it appears that Sarvam has quietly released its AI chat app, Indus, on app stores.
The Indus app is currently available to download on the Apple Appstore and Google’s Play Store. The Indus website is also up and running on the web. However, you may not be able to access it just yet.
Indus is Sarvam’s AI assistant. The app listing states that this AI assistant has been tailored for Indian users, and built entirely in India. According to the company, users will be able to interact with the AI chatbot in “every Indian language.” This also includes the ability to switch languages mid-conversation, such as going from English to Hindi and vice versa.
Just like other chatbots, such as ChatGPT and Gemini, Sarvam’s Indus will also have voice command functionality. The AI will answer your queries by searching the web or doing deep research.
The app listing also states that the Indus app may come with AI agents, that is, users could be able to automate tasks using Sarvam’s AI agents. The company also indicates that you may be able to write and edit documents within the app itself.
Other features include the support for uploading images, pdfs and similar documents. The AI can then analyse information and answer queries based on the file.
