Bihar's Model schools to prepare students for NEET, JEE; apply now

The Bihar government planned to launch one model school in each block, with Class 9 admissions starting this year. The entrance exam is set for March 11, and the application deadline was extended to February 20 for better access.

The Bihar government prepared to launch one Adarsh Madhyamik Vidyalaya, or model school, in every block of the state. This major step aimed to start Class 9 in these schools from the 2026-27 academic session, providing a new opportunity for students across rural and urban areas.

Admissions would depend on an entrance examination scheduled for March 11. Students qualifying in this exam would be enroled according to a merit list, with the goal of ensuring fairness and transparency in the selection process.

Online applications for the entrance test were accepted until February 20, following an extension by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).

The earlier deadline was February 15, but it was extended to provide more students with a chance to apply.

This initiative formed part of the government’s Saat Nishchay-3 programme. A total of 534 blocks across Bihar were targeted to receive these model schools.

The main objective was to prepare students systematically for competitive exams like NEET, JEE, and Olympiads, beginning at the Class 9 level.
