Chairman of 5th State Finance Commission visits Kodagu villages, reviews progress of government schemes, emphasizes development and improvement of living conditions.
The chairman of the 5th State Finance Commission C. Narayanaswamy on Tuesday visited the villages in Virajpet taluk in Kodagu and spoke to the elected representatives.
He went to K. Baadaga, Nalkeri, and Polibetta gram panchayats (GPs) and reviewed the progress of various government schemes. Dr. Narayanaswamy told the members of the GPs to make use of the government schemes and strive for the development of the villages.
During his visit to tribal haadis in K. Baadaga and Nalkeri GPs, he suggested improving the living conditions of the people residing in the settlements.
K. Baadaga GP president Ritesh Biddappa said that despite being a small GP, K. Baadaga has successfully and effectively made use of funds for the development of the villages.
Assistant Director M.D. Srinivas said K. Baadaga GP had got the award from the Department of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development as the best GP. “The K. Baadaga GP has built more houses than other GPs,” he claimed.
