Centre has power over constitutional agencies: J'khand CM launches scathing attack on BJP during Delhi visit

Jharkhand CM Hemand Soren hit out at the Centre over the ED raids in the state in connection with an alleged MNREGA scam. He said that the "Centre has power over constitutional agencies".

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren visited Delhi on Sunday to have discussion with the Congress over various issues, including upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. During a press conference, the JMM leader launched a scathing attack on the BJP and said that the "Centre has power over constitutional agencies."

On Sunday, Soren met Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and held a discussion over a Rajya Sabha seat from Jharkhand. The Congress is eyeing fielding their candidate for the Rajya Sabha berth from Jharkhand. CM Hemant Soren has likely discussed fielding a common candidate for the Rajya Sabha seat from the Congress- Jharkhand Mukti Morcha- Rashtriya Janata Dal alliance.

The Jharkhand CM took a dig at the BJP over various issues, including the charges he is facing that he issued a mining lease in the state in his favour. When asked about the allegations, Soren said, "From day one, since we have whitewashed BJP, there's a visible pain in their party. They are in the Centre and they have power over constitutional agencies."

He added, "I was looking at the NCB story and how SRK's son got a clean chit. The ED's investigation will see the same turn as it is still unable to give any details of the investigation."

"The ED is investigating the MNREGA scam in Jharkhand as well. However, I don't remember a day their officials have either visited those places or even questioned the officials involved," the Jharkhand CM said.

"They are searching for something else. When they can dig 500-year-old issues pertaining to mosques and temples, this (alleged scam) is only 14 years old," he said, in a swipe at the BJP.

He added, "The BJP has only one issue to survive. If they don't raise this, how will they stay relevant?"
