SR Nagar police register case against actor Vijay Deverakonda under SC/ST Act for offensive remarks at event.
The SR Nagar police have registered a case under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against actor Vijay Deverakonda, following a complaint by an advocate.
The complaint relates to remarks made by the actor during a recent pre-release event for a Tamil film starring Suriya Sivakumar, where Devarakonda appeared as the chief guest.
According to the complaint, Vijay Deverakonda, while referring to the recent Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir, allegedly compared the incident to historic clashes involving tribal communities. Advocate Lal Chauhan, who complained against the remark, claimed the actor’s comments were deeply offensive and amounted to demeaning the tribal population.
“The actor’s reference to tribal communities in the context of terrorism is unacceptable and dangerous,” said association president Kishan Raj Chauhan, who demanded a public apology from the actor. He added that the remarks showed a lack of awareness and sensitivity towards tribal history and identity.
