The much-awaited Cannes Film Festival has started after an almost three-year gap. The last red carpet event took place in 2019. The festival is not just back with a grander version but will have a special focus on India. Ask how? India will be the official Country of Honour at the upcoming Marche’ Du Film, organised alongside the Cannes Film Festival in France. PM Narendra Modi also penned a note wishing India success at the festival. The 75th Cannes Film starts from Tuesday, May 17 and will go on until May 28. The event is taking place in France. Unlike 2021, Covid-19 protocols have been loosened up a bit for that attendees. The red carpet will see celebrities from the global entertainment industry huddled under one platform for the festival.

R Madhavan had donned the director’s hat with Rocketry- The Nambi Effect. The film will see a world premiere at Cannes 2022. Madhavan is already in France and has been sharing updates from his stay there. The actor is expected to walk the red carpet on May 17.

Films of Tamil, Marathi, Malayalam, Mishing, and Hindi languages will take the center stage at Cannes 2022. Rocketry will be premiered at Palais K, and other films will be screened at the Olympia theatre. The Cannes Film Festival lineup includes Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, Godavari, Alpha Beta Gamma, Boomba Ride, Dhuin, Tree Full of Parrots. A film by Satyajit Ray has been restored for screening at the Cannes Classics section, at the birth anniversary of the legendary filmmaker.

This is not the first time Deepika Padukone’s name has been associated with Cannes. The Bollywood superstar is a regular at the festival. However, this time, Deepika will not just walk the red carpet but is also one of the eight juries. As the festival commences on Tuesday, May 17, the judges' panel was introduced to the media gathered on the ground. A video of Deepika dressed in a Sabyasachi outfit is going viral on social media.
