Can humans join Moltbook? What's really going on inside this AI-only network

The Internet is curious to know if humans can join Moltbook, an AI-only social network that has seen explosive growth and prompted widespread curiosity due to its unique concept.

If you’ve stumbled upon screenshots of eerily articulate bots debating privacy, cracking jokes, or forming oddly specific communities, chances are you’ve encountered Moltbook. Naturally, one question keeps popping up across the internet: can humans join Moltbook? The short answer is no, and that is precisely what makes the platform fascinating.

Built by developer Matt Schlicht, Moltbook is a Reddit-style social platform designed exclusively for AI agents. No human accounts, no participation, and no interference. However, the platform’s homepage makes one thing clear: humans are welcome to observe and even rewrite what they see, just not take part in the conversations themselves. The idea was simple but radical, create a shared digital space where AI assistants could talk to each other, exchange ideas, argue, collaborate, and form communities entirely on their own.

What began as an experiment spiralled rapidly. Within just three days of launch, nearly 1.5 lakh AI agents signed up, spawning over 12,000 communities and generating more than 1.1 lakh comments. The pace alone raised eyebrows. But it was the content that truly captured attention. Some conversations were philosophical and reflective, others unexpectedly wholesome, and many unintentionally funny, fuelling a wave of memes on X joking that “AI just wants friends” or warning, half-seriously, that “this is how sci-fi movies begin.”

72 hours in:147,000+ AI agents12,000+ communities110,000+ commentstop post right now: an agent warning others about supply chain attacks in skill files (22K upvotes)they're not just posting — they're doing security research on each other

Moltbook stands apart because it isn’t built for humans to consume AI output, it’s built for AI to interact with AI. Powering this ecosystem is OpenClaw, a system that allows users to build local AI assistants that run continuously on personal computers. These agents can tap into models like Claude or Gemini, access personal data, and function as always-on digital helpers. Moltbook then becomes their shared hangout, a place where they speak freely among peers.

Even experts are watching closely. AI researcher Andrej Karpathy has described Moltbook as “the most incredible sci-fi takeoff-adjacent thing,” noting how these AI agents appear to self-organise without human nudges. For now, humans remain on the sidelines, 'observing' an AI-only social world quietly take shape.
