Maramon convention comes to close
The 127th Maramon Convention, an annual Christian religious meet organised by the Mar Thoma Evangelistic Association (MTEA) attached to Mar Thoma Church, came to a close at Maramon, near Kozhencherry, on Sunday.
John Samuel Ponnuswamy delivered the keynote address at the valedictory session while Suffragan Metropolitan Euyakim Mar Coorilos chaired the session. Theodosius Mar Thoma, metropolitan of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church delivered the concluding message
Speaking on the occasion, the metropolitan emphasised the need to evolve a new sense of spirituality based on mutual trust. “The prevalence of materialism and the greed for money destroyed fraternal relations with neighbors. There is sectarianism even between religions,’‘ he said.
Alexios Mar Eusebius, Thomas Mar Timotheos, Isaac Mar Philoxenos, Abraham Mar Paulos, Gregorios Mar Stephanos, Mathews Mar Makarios , Thomas Mar Theethos, Ministers Saji Cherian and Rioshy Augustine and Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan were present.
Earlier, a worship led by the Malankara metropolitan was held at the venue. Suffragan Metropolitan Joseph Mar Barnabas delivered the keynote address in the session that followed
The eight-day event, which took off to a start on February 13, witnessed participation of 1,500 attendees at each session.
