Success of International Machinery Expo prompts KSSIA to propose new exhibition centres in Kerala for industrial growth.
The success of the International Machinery Expo, held at the first permanent exhibition centre in the State at Kakkanad, has prompted the Kerala State Small Industries Association (KSSIA) to propose setting up similar centres in the State capital and Kozhikode.
Highlighting the need for two more permanent venues to host exhibitions and business shows, KSSIA president A. Nizarudeen on Monday (December 16) said this aligns with the ongoing growth of industrial Kerala, which has facilitated the launch of over three lakh new enterprises in the past two years.
Mr. Nizarudeen said that the machinery expo was the first major event conducted at the Kakkanad exhibition centre after its inauguration, under the joint aegis of KSSIA and the Industries department. He added that both Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal were impressed by the event, with the Finance Minister personally visiting most of the 300 stalls.
The event was a grand success, drawing around 12,000 participants, including exhibitors and participants from across the globe, said Mr. Nizarudeen. This was the first time after 15 years that such a big event was being organised by the KSSIA, he added.
Meanwhile, Industries Minister P. Rajeeve said that the Kinfra International Convention Centre, located near the Kakkanad exhibition centre, would be inaugurated in January 2025.
