
BSF rescues Bangladeshi woman who was sold off for Rs 30,000, forced into prostitution in India

The woman was illegally brought to India, sold off for Rs 30,000 and forced into prostitution last year. She was apprehended while trying to return illegally with a man and has been sent to a shelter home.
The Border Security Force (BSF) has apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals who were trying to cross the International Border illegally. One of the apprehended persons is a 22-year-old woman who was reportedly brought to India illegally, and was reportedly sold off for Rs 30,000 and forced into prostitution. Based on a tip-off from its anti-human trafficking unit, the BSF carried out a special operation last Saturday in the border district of Nadia in West Bengal. Around 5 am, troops at BSF's Mahendra border outpost noticed some suspicious movement in a banana orchard. The troops chased the duo and apprehended them.
