Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt's film Brahmastra is doing exceptionally well at the box office. It is now racing towards the Rs 200-crore club.

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s Brahmastra may have taken years to appear on the big screen, but it was worth everyone's wait. After a slew of Bollywood flops in the industry, the film has managed to emerge as a hit finally. It's quite a relief for the Ayan Mukerji-directorial as even after a week, Brahmastra continues to set the cash register ringing. It remained steady at the box office on the weekdays as well. Moreover, the film ended its Week 1 in the theatres with a whopping Rs 170 crore! On Day 8, its numbers were impressive as well. In fact, the film has defied all trends of the second Friday, since the multiplexes have shown a jump whereas the single screens are showing no drop.

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt's Brahmastra is already a superhit among the audience. After collecting a whopping Rs 75 crore globally on its opening day, the film continues doing phenomenally well at the global box office even after a week. Brahmastra closed its opening week with collections at Rs 170 crore. According to trade estimates, Brahmastra earned in the range of Rs 10.25 to Rs 11.25 crore on Day 8. Hence, the total collection would now stand at Rs 181.50 crore approx. The Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt-starrer is now targeting the second weekend of at least Rs 42 crore, which should take the 10-day total to Rs 212 crore nett. Of the Rs 181.50 crore, Brahmastra collected around Rs 161 crore from the Hindi version and another Rs 20.5 crore from the South dubbed version. A lifetime collection (All India) of Rs 250 crore will put the team of Brahmastra in a good position, and lay down the platform for part 2, Dev.

Brahmastra is a superhero drama that revolves around a simpleton who shares a special bond with fire. It features Alia Bhatt as the leading lady and marks her first collaboration with Ranbir Kapoor. The cast includes Nagarjuna, Mouni Roy and Amitabh Bachchan. It is directed by Ayan Mukerji. Shah Rukh Khan has a cameo in the movie. Brahmastra opened in the theatres on September 9.

The storyline of Brahmastra follows Shiva, a DJ, who learns about his strange connection with the element of fire. While he emerges as the Agniastra himself, the film follows his strange connection with the Brahmstra, a supernatural weapon that is said to be able to destroy the universe. On the other hand, Junoon, the pawn of the dark forces, is also on a quest to get hold of the Brahmastra.
