Border 2 dominates 2026 box office, trade predicts Rs 600 crore lifetime business
India Today
Border 2 has crossed Rs 200 crore in just five days and is racing ahead of Dhurandhar, emerging as the biggest box-office success of 2026 so far.
Border 2 continued its thunderous run at the box office, racing past major milestones and clearly pulling ahead of Dhurandhar in both pace and audience traction. With strong weekday holds, exceptional performance in non-metro markets, and growing overseas numbers, trade experts believe the film is setting itself up for a historic lifetime run.Border 2’s box office momentum
The war drama has already crossed 200 crores within five days of its release.
Trade expert Girish Wankhede believed Border 2 is well on its way to rewriting box-office benchmarks. “Border has collected 200 crores in just five days, which is phenomenal. The film opened at 30 crores on day one, followed by 36.5 crores on day two, 54.5 crores on day three, 59 crores on day four, and 20 crores on day five, taking the total to 200 crores. If we compare this with Dhurandhar, which collected 153.25 crore in five days, Border is clearly ahead. The pace at which it has reached 200 crore suggests it could add another 100 crore by the next weekend, making it one of the fastest films to enter the 300 crore and 400 crore clubs.
He further added, “The worldwide collection currently stands at 277 crores. Out of this, India’s gross is 239.75 crore, while overseas business is 37.25 crore, which is a healthy number. With overseas collections steadily increasing, even if the worldwide total soon touches close to 300 crores, the film is certainly on track to reach 600 crores in overall business. With strong word of mouth, growing audience footfall, and widespread praise, I don’t see the film closing at anything less than 600 crores. With Border 3 already announced, this success will only strengthen the franchise further.”
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said Border 2’s opening itself has already placed it at the top of the 2026 box-office charts. “It’s off to a fantastic start. From a number's perspective, even though the year has just begun, this is the biggest opening of 2026 so far. If you compare it with last year as well, the first four days are higher than Chhaava and Dhurandhar, which is a big achievement.”
According to Adarsh, the emotional legacy of the franchise plays a crucial role in the film’s success. “Border is an emotion, and Sunny Deol being part of it makes it even more powerful. JP Dutta and Sunny Deol have a long and successful association, starting with the original Border. Sunny has always delivered his best, and in this film too, he is unanimously being praised for his performance and action; he’s truly outstanding.”
