Builder Tushar Ghelani's tragic suicide days before his daughter's wedding has unveiled a hidden relationship and disputed financial dealings. Police arrest Poonam Bhadauria, probing alleged abetment to suicide and property transfers.
For years, she stayed close. First across a reception desk, then across boardroom tables, and eventually, police allege, at the centre of his financial world.
No one at home knew.
By the time the truth began surfacing, builder Tushar Ghelani had already pulled the trigger, just four days before his daughter’s wedding.
What investigators in Gujarat’s Surat now describe is a story of a secret relationship, disputed property transfers worth crores, and a man who allegedly told his daughter he felt “trapped”, afraid that trouble would erupt just as his family prepared for celebration.
Umra police have now arrested Poonam Bhadauria, described as the Jolly Group owner’s girlfriend, in connection with Ghelani’s suicide. She has been booked under Section 306 for abetment to suicide following a complaint filed by his daughter.
The story, police say, did not begin dramatically.
