Panaji MLA and BJP loyalist Atanasio Monserrate tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Friday, the leader confirmed on social media.Monserrate, who has isolated himself, appealed to those who came in contact with him to get tested immediately.In a social media post, Monserrate said, " I have tested Positive for Covid-19. Request all those who have come in close contact with me to get tested immediately. I shall take all necessary precautions as advised by the Medical Support Staff." [sic] The development comes after the BJP leader was found maskless, greeting his supporters, on the streets of the capital after the party won Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) polls on March 22.Meanwhile, the Goa government on Friday issued guidelines for the upcoming festivals - Holi, Easter, Eid and Shab-e-Barat - to avoid the possible spread of coronavirus in the state.
As per the Bill, those involved in unlawful conversions on the pretext of marriage will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and shall also be liable for a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Violations in respect of a minor, a person of unsound mind, a woman or a person belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and a fine of Rs 5 lakh.
