Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha blesses renovated chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows, emphasizing historical and spiritual significance.
Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangaluru, blessed the renovated chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows at the Bishop’s House, Kodialbail, on Saturday.
The chapel, historically significant and spiritually rich, was first blessed in 1857. It underwent a major façade renovation in 1963, and a decade ago, the flooring was redone. This year’s extensive renovation added a fresh architectural charm and structural enhancements, featuring an extended new front facade, roof repairs, wall plastering, fresh painting, electrification, a sound system, and improved lighting, according to a release.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, a felicitation programme was organised where the Bishop thanked the donors of the renovation project.
In his message, the Bishop said that the chapel has witnessed generations of prayer and tears. It is not merely a structure but a spiritual place.
