Tragic accident in Bengaluru as two children are run over by a school bus; driver arrested for negligence.
Two young children were killed when a school bus knocked down the scooter they were travelling in, near the police quarters at Thanisandra under the Hennur Traffic Police Station limits on Tuesday (February 10, 2026) morning.
The deceased have been identified as Varsha (2), daughter of CAR constable Naganagowda, and Banu (4), niece of Naganagowda and daughter of his elder brother. Banu had come to her uncle’s house from Raichur only four days ago as he was planning to admit her into a school in the city.
According to preliminary information, Naganagouda, who serves as a constable in the City Armed Reserve (CAR), was riding a scooter to buy milk from a grocery shop, and the two children were with him. The accident occurred near the Thanisandra police quarters when a school bus, while taking a turn, knocked down the scooter .
The children, who were seated on the scooter’s floorboard, fell onto the road and came under the moving wheels of the bus and were run over, resulting in grievous injuries. Both children died on the spot. The entire incident was captured on the CCTv installed at a near-by house.
Naganagouda sustained minor injuries in the accident and was admitted to the hospital.
The Hennur traffic police conducted an inspection and arrested the driver, identified as Mareppa, 45, charging him under death due to negligence and rash and negligent driving for further investigations.
