
Bengaluru cops suspended for diluting charges against constables in drug peddling case

An inspector and SI caught two constables allegedly involved in drug peddling. However, the inspector diluted the charges against them in court and the court granted them bail. The commissioner suspended the inspector and the SI.
Bangalore police commissioner Kamal Pant on Wednesday, January 19, suspended an inspector and sub inspector from Aarti Nagar for dereliction of duty.
The two policemen were responsible for nabbing the two police constables who were allegedly involved in drug peddling when they were deployed as guards at the Chief Minister's residence.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
